Essay Topics on Music
Essay Topics on MusicWhen I was a teenager, I had no idea where to find essay topics on music. It was nearly two decades ago and my first love in music drums, but I got too serious about it and quit playing drums. I thought I would never play again so I didn't bother thinking about what I was going to write in the essay I was required to write for college.I majored in music theory and was working in the insurance industry at the time. I was just looking for something interesting to write about, so I decided to take a course in college in the area of music theory. It was a very interesting class and I got more interested in the subject when I was finished with that course.I spent several years working in the insurance industry and as far as I could tell, my knowledge of music theory didn't change that much from when I took the classes in college. I couldn't figure out why my professor insisted on using the term 'theory' as opposed to 'music'. It didn't make any sense to me. Music is m usic and theory is theory. However, after leaving the insurance business and starting to work in real estate I needed some background information to answer the questions my son asked me about his favorite bands and musicians. I found that the subject of music theory was much easier to cover than I ever imagined. And if I went back in time, I would still be researching as much as I could about the subject to provide the answers he wanted. Here are some of the essay topics on music I use today. The first one is the basic definitions of the three types of music, Western, Popular, and Improvisational. This is something I learned in high school. I don't know whether the idea of breaking down what types of music are needed in order to write an essay on music theory really did exist at that time. It's not like the subject is as prevalent as it is now.The second essay topic is about the difference between the traditional forms of classical and popular music. If you're a person who likes to pl ay classical piano or rock guitar, this essay topic may interest you. A lot of people assume the classical forms are the best way to play, and popular music is better for the fun-loving kids. The last essay topic I have about improvisational music is called, 'Making the Measure'. I was surprised to learn that many people assume improv music has nothing to do with musical concepts and they assume it's simply the same stuff they see on the TV. As a music teacher, I tend to agree with them because the basic principles are just the same. These are just a few of the essay topics on music I have written over the years. They are well known essay topics for a reason.
